44th President of these United States Barack H. Obama

History was truly made today, and it will be one of those moments that you will remember where you were when it happened. I saw him take his oath at work, and right after that I had to walk to my first class. However I just watched it again and listened to his speech, and my eyes teared up watching Barack Obama get sworn in as our President.
As a history major this is something definitely monumental--an African American man getting sworn in on Abraham Lincoln's Bible. AMAZING! Also the crowd that showed up for the event from the various celebs [Oprah, Aretha Franklin, Dustin Hoffman, George Lopez, etc] , former Presidents [Carter, Bush Sr, Clinton, and Bush], Martin Luther King III, and so many more. Its almost to much.
President Barack Obama will have challenges ahead of him from the economy to the "war"[Congress has not declared war since WWII] in Iraq. People will be watching him closely, but I hope everyone understands that change won't come today or tomorrow it WILL take some time.
I wish President Obama and Vice President Biden nothing but the best on their term, and I pray that no harm comes to them or their families.

Prop 8 - The Musical

I was looking around on funnyordie.com and came across this video:

See more Jack Black videos at Funny or Die

I think that video is funny, and gets the point across well. Even though I don't live in California I think it is important that Prop 8 gets voted NO on again and again. Neil Patrick Harris in this video is priceless. I have to say for a gay man he looks awfully hot in this video!!

Vin Diesel and his Baby Mama

Vin Diesel was out on the town Monday night at the 23rd Annual American Cinematheque Gala held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA. He attended the event with his current girlfriend/baby mama Paloma Jimenez.
Now in case you didn't hear back in June it was announced that Vin had became a DILF. His daughter Hania Riley was born on April 2, 2008 [anyone know if her last name is Diesel or if it's Jimenez-Diesel??]. As far I know there are no pictures released of her, and he has not announced that him and Paloma are getting married. That still gives some hope that I can be with him. I'm looking forward to see his little girl, and what she looks like.

Twilight

The highly anticipated movie of the season came out today. Yes folks we are talking about Twilight which stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Jackson RathboneTaylor LautnerCam Gigandet, Billy Burke, Ed Gathegi and Elizabeth Reaser to name a few.

Plot: Bella Swan has always been a little bit different. Never one to run with the crowd, Bella never cared about fitting in with the trendy, plastic girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother remarried and Bella chooses to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she didn't expect much of anything to change. But things do change when she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen. For Edward is nothing like any boy she's ever met. He's nothing like anyone she's ever met, period. He's intelligent and witty, and he seems to see straight into her soul. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance - unorthodox because Edward really isn't like the other boys. He can run faster than a mountain lion. He can stop a moving car with his bare hands. Oh, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he's immortal. That's right - vampire. But he doesn't have fangs - that's just in the movies. And he doesn't drink human blood, though Edward and his family are unique among vampires in that lifestyle choice. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. Somehow or other, they will have to manage their unmanageable love. But when unexpected visitors come to town and realize that there is a human among them Edward must fight to save Bella? A modern, visual, and visceral Romeo and Juliet story of the ultimate forbidden love affair - between vampire and mortal.

First thing first, I think I would have liked this movie a whole lot better if I hadn't of read the book. While I was watching the movie I kept noticing things they left out, stuff in the wrong order, or some odd stuff they added. I loved all the characters in their roles especially Robert Pattinson as Edward even though he made some funny faces. Kristen Stewart was good in her role however I don't think she bluched enough for Bella and didn't say howmuch she thought Edward was beautiful. Also what did they do to the meadow scene?? They completely ruined my fave part of the book. Edward looked like he rolled his head around in a bag of glitter. So disappointing. However I really do reccomend you to go see this if you have or haven't read the book. It's good, but the book is a million times better.

Max Payne

Last weekend I finally made it out to AMC Gulf Pointe 30 to watch Max Payne. I wanted to see it when it came out, but didn't have the chance til recently. The movie stars Mark Whalberg, Mila Kunis, Amaury Nolasco, Ludacris, and Beau Bridges.
Plot:Coming together to solve a series of murders in New York City are a DEA agent whose family was slain as part of a conspiracy and an assassin out to avenge her sister's death. The duo will be hunted by the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation.
Well first of all let me say I have never, and probably never will play the game this movie is based on. With that being said the movie was good, but needed more action scenes. Towards the end of the movie I was getting a little restless and ready for it to end. I thought Mark did a great job in his role, and so did Mila Kunis [who looked really hot]. Ludacris was barley in the movie and his role wasn't to important to me. I would recommend people to go see this only if there is nothing else you really want to see. I did however enjoy Amaury Nolasco with no shirt on...yum!

Kathy Griffin Comes to Houston

On Saturday night I was able to make it out to the Verizon Wirless Theater to see Kathy Griffin at her late show. The night didn't start out to well however first David and I had to find an ATM in Downtown so we could pay to park, then we had to find parking, then once the show started the row in front of me people were in the wrong seats and two groups were arguing and ushers flashing flashlights in my face. Once all that was over I was able to enjoy the show.
Kathy was hilarious! I really enjoyed the show, and it was funnier then I thought it could be. The Nancy Grace impression and jokes were the best I think. She has Nancy's voice down. Hearing all the backstage Emmy gossip to was interesting. Also her Cher encounter and her birthday with Cher was funny "you crazy bitch". I recommend everyone go out and see Kathy if she comes to a city near you. If you can't make it then look for her show on Bravo.
